What does it to take to succeed? A good resume? A baritone voice? A confident demeanor? A sense of style and presentation? If you ask us, all of these are the shades of success and to wear success on your sleeve is never easy. You may not always have all of them in abundance, but if you know how to combine them and balance them out, chances are you may have a winning interview, an impression that is remembered and more importantly a reason to be recalled.
So how do you balance your physical and cerebral assets?
First get to know yourself well. Do an objective self-analysis – what are you good at, what are you ok at and at what are you a complete no, no?
Once you know that learn to play the game with the world to your strengths. Let me give you an example – if you are a logical person, the highlight to the audience the way you approach a situation, problem or an opportunity. Tell them how you are able to logically reason it out. Go to the root of the problem or situation and decode the building blocks of the argument. Highlight to them your unique approach of building and creating the logic. Once you do this, your asset of logical reasoning will come through.
Take another example – say you are a medium height person with fair skin and an endearing smile. While you might be welcoming and soft to look at, you may want to portray seriousness and confidence. The way you dress may be the answer. Dark color suits or a light colored shirt with a deep and dark shade necktie with just that hint of colour in the form of stripes or a self-pattern may add to your persona.
This is the way to go. Put the mirror up to yourself and decode the world in all its shades. Once you do these chances are that success is just hovering around you. All it needs is a nudge. Discover that sooner than later.
